We Torched a Seized Rusted Bolt with a MAP Gas Torch

Our heavy equipment mechanics Bill and Jimmy show us how to torch out a broken bolt seized from rust on a Caterpillar D7 bulldozer. After finding a broken bolt under the chassis of our Caterpillar D7 dozer, we knew we were in for a task. See how our mechanics troubleshoot and extract the bolt in this episode of deconstruction at Newman Tractor!

After trying to drill on this hardened rusted bolt for over 6 hours we decided to try using 12/35 weld rods to extract our broken bolt. Having no luck, we were left with our last option. We had to torch out the broken bolt and try not to damage the threads. If you've ever experienced extracting a broken bolt in one of your DIY projects, you know it's not easy! Check out our video to see what happens!
